Anna Drexler was born in 1990 in Filderstadt. She studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg Schule in Munich from 2009 to 2013. During her studies she took part in Der Komet at Burgtheater (directed by Roland Schimmelpfennig) and in productions by Florian Fischer. In 2012 she was awarded the O.E. Hasse-Preis of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. From 2013 to 2017 she was a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble, where she worked with Johan Simons, Stephan Kimmig, Christopher Rüping, Martin Kušej and Toshiki Okada, among others. In 2013, she was voted Nachwuchsschauspielerin des Jahres by the theatre journal Theater heute for her role as Sonya in Uncle Vanya. In 2014 she received the Förderpreis des Vereins zur Förderung der Münchner Kammerspiele as well as the Kunstförderpreis zur Förderung junger darstellender Künstler des Bayerischen Kultusministeriums and the AZ-Stern des Jahres as best actress. She appeared at Deutsches Theater Berlin and played the Lulu at the Salzburger Festspiele in 2017 (directed by Athina Tsangari). 2017/2018 she was a member of the ensemble at the Residenztheater and worked with Michael Thalheimer and Zino Wey. Since the 2018/2019 season she is a member of the ensemble of Schauspielhaus Bochum.
