Theresa Mielich describes herself as a textile artist, costume designer and scenographer. She works in artist collectives and as a solo artist, and has been working as a freelancer in the independent theatre scene and at municipal theatres since 2014. Together with Ruby Behrmann, Liliane Koch and Katharina Becklas, she conceives and creates participatory, site-specific performances as BKM Performance. With Nicola Schubert and the artists’ collective schubert-stegemann, she produces visual audio performances and the short film Mutterstadt. She also has a long-standing working relationship with the directors Catharina Fillers, Isabel Stahl and Thorsten Bihegue. Since 2024, she has been working in a collective partnership with Lisa Kreis. In her artistic practice, she places particular emphasis on the sustainable use of resources, such as recycling and working with second-hand materials. She is a member and active participant in the Dott Network and SK Freie Szene. Her independent work has taken her to Theater Aachen, Amthof Galerie Bad Camberg, Ballhaus Ost Berlin, Schwankhalle Bremen, Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum, Landestheater Detmold, Theater Dortmund, Favoritenfestival Dortmund, Theater im Depot Dortmund, Dottwerk Dortmund, Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen, Mousonturm Frankfurt, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Staatsoper Hannover, Schauspiel Köln, Sommerblutfestival Köln, Theater im Bauturm Köln, Freies Werkstatttheater Köln, Rautenstrauch Jost Museum Köln, Schauspiel Leipzig, Bayer Kultur Leverkusen and Theater der Künste Zürich.
