Peter Thiessen is singer/songwriter/guitarist of the band Kante, from 1997 to 2002 bassist of the band Blumfeld. Numerous CD releases, including Zweilicht (Kante, 2001), Zombi (Kante, 2004), Die Tiere sind unruhig (Kante, 2006), Old Nobody (Blumfeld, 1999). Tours and concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South America, Russia, Japan, England, USA. Since 2007, numerous theatre works as musical director, musician, narrator, composer at Burgtheater Vienna, Residenztheater Munich, Schaubühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin, among others. In 2015, the theatre publisher Theater der Zeit published the CD In der Zuckerfabrik with theatre music. He has a long collaboration with Friederike Heller, including Spuren der Verirrten (Peter Handke, 2007, Akademietheater Vienna), Antigone (Sophokles/Hölderlin, 2011, Schaubühne Berlin), I love Dick (Chris Kraus, 2018, Neumarkttheater Zurich), Sommernachtstraum (Shakespeare, 2018, Staatsschauspiel Dresden). In 2018 he brought together the bands Khoi Khonnexion (Cape Town) and Kante (Hamburg/Berlin) for the postcolonial theatre project Das Haus der herabfallenden Knochen (Kampnagel Sommerfestival/Theaterspektakel Zürich/FFT Düsseldorf/Kammerspiele München). He lives in Hamburg.
