Lisa Nielebock, born in 1978, studied directing at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and has been a freelance director since 2004. Prior to that, she was an assistant director at the Bavarian State Theatre. She has directed at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the State Theatre in Hanover, the National Theatre in Mannheim, the Theatre in Bern, the Schauspiel Essen and the National Theatre in Weimar, among other theatres. Her work has been shown and awarded prizes at the Körber Studio Junge Regie, Radikal Jung and the North Rhine-Westphalia Theatertreffen, among others. From 2005, Lisa Nielebock was engaged as resident director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Here she directed, among others, Penthesilea (Kleist), Ghosts (Ibsen), Roberto Zucco (Koltes), Macbeth (Shakespeare), Kasimir and Karoline (Horváth), Amphitryon (Kleist), Job (Roth) and, most recently in 2018, The Oresteia (Aeschylus). Since 2014, Lisa Nielebock has held a professorship at the Folkwang University of the Arts and heads the directing programme.
