Jenny Theisen studied Communication Design with a focus on Photography and Video at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and completed her studies during a work placement in Los Angeles. Subsequently, she completed a three-year costume assistantship at the Düsseldorf Theater. Since 2016, she has been working as a freelance costume and set designer, including at the Schauspielhaus Wien, HAU Berlin, Schauspielhaus Graz, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Ruhrtriennale, Neuköllner Oper, and repeatedly at the Düsseldorf Theater. She designed costumes for Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Constanza Macras, and Nils Zapfe. She has a close collaboration with director and author Felix Krakau. Their joint work Peer Gynt won an award at the Körber Studio for Young Direction in 2019. In her work, she explores the relationships between banality and society, bodies, kitsch, and beauty.
