Philipp Rohmer was born in Leipzig and raised in Berlin, Philipp Rohmer studied jazz double bass and early music at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. He is cofounder of various bands and orchestral projects (Lu:v, Spielvereinigung Sued, Radar, Von Eden) and has performed all over Germany and Europe. In addition to compositions for film, theatre, and chamber orchestra, he released an album of solo double bass music entitled mycelium in 2019.
As multi-instrumentalist and singer, he has increasingly focused on theatre since 2020. He has written and performed music for productions at Centraltheater Leipzig, Deutsches Theater Berlin, RambaZamba Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Akademietheater Vienna, Schauspielhaus Zurich, Staatstheater Hannover, and Staatsschauspiel Dresden, among others, with Jorinde Dröse, Philipp Preuss, and Roscha Saidow. He has a long-standing artistic collaboration with director Lilja Rupprecht.
His album armor of feathers containing songs from various theatre productions will be released in summer 2026.
Die Gehaltserhöhung is his first collaboration with Albrecht Schroeder as well as his first production at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
