Lotte van den Berg, born 1975 in Groningen, studied directing in Amsterdam and then worked at various production houses and with theatre groups in Flanders and the Netherlands. In 2006 she joined the Toneelhuis in Antwerp. From 2009 to 2014 she worked in the structure she founded under the title OMSK in the old energy centre of Dordrecht (Netherlands), often on site-specific projects in the Netherlands and abroad. Her works have already been shown at various renowned European theatre festivals and have also been presented in America, Canada and Africa. In her productions, which move between dance, theatre and film, she works with both professional and amateur actors. She has received several awards, including the Dutch Prize for Young Directors Erik Vos Prize and the Dutch Literature Prize Charlotte Köhler. In 2014 she founded Third Space, a small and very flexible organisation based in Amsterdam, with which she is currently realising her work. Among other things, she developed the long-term project Building Conversation here together with visual artist Daan ‘t Sas. Since its start Building Conversation has grown out to an international collective of artists; all fascinated by what happens when you come together in conversation. Her two-part work Dying together can be seen at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in the 2019/20 season.
