Manuela Infante, born in Santiago de Chile in 1980, completed her bachelor's degree in art at the Universidad de Chile and her master's degree in cultural analysis at the University of Amsterdam. She works as a playwright, director, screenwriter and musician. Between 2002 and 2016, she wrote and produced numerous projects in collaboration with her company Teatro de Chile, which she also directed. All of her works have received funding from the National Fund for Cultural Development and the Arts (FONDART). Infante's work has toured the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Korea and Japan. She has produced her own works at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, for the VIE Scena Contemporanea Festival in Modena, Italy, the Watermill Center in New York, the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (FIBA), the Festival Internacional Santiago a Mil (FITAM) and TheaterWorks in Singapore. In 2015, Manuela Infante became the first woman to be appointed director of the Muestra Nacional de Dramaturgia (National Festival of Dramaturgy) in Chile.
