Martin Becker, born in 1982, works as a freelance author, among others for public broadcasters. He also works as a literary critic for Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur and reports in features and reports. In 2007 he published his award-winning volume of short stories Ein schönes Leben, in 2014 his novel Der Rest der Nacht, in 2017 his novel Marschmusik, and also the anthology Die letzte Metro. Junge Literatur aus Tschechien (together with Martina Lisa). He realised a series of radio plays and readings together with the Czech writer Jaroslav Rudiš. In the 2019/20 season he writes the text for the co-production between the Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Bochumer Symphoniker Ein Fest für Mackie on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the two institutions.
