Mickey Neher, born in 1966, studied jazz at the Folkwang University of Music and Dance in Essen. He works as a jazz drummer, composer, and singer. Neher played in Henrik Freischlader's blues band and has been involved in studio and CD productions as well as live performances by Gene Conners, Jan Harrington, Sonja Kimmons, Chris Farlowe, Cynthia Utterbach, Albie Donnelly, Paul Kuhn, Pete York, Martin C. Herbeg, as well as in WDR radio plays (Diktator Weib, Munkie und die Ungeheuer). Since 1990, Neher has been teaching young drummers at Musikschule Hilden. The focus of his musical activities continues to be live music. For example, he accompanies August Zirner on drums and as a singer with the Spardosen-Terzett. Together with Henrik Freischlader, Tommy Schneller, Moritz Fuhrhop, and Olli Gee, Mickey Neher founded the band 5LIVE in 2008.
