Billy Bultheel, born 1987 in Brussels (Belgium), studied Electronic Music Composition at the Institute for Sonology at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague (Netherlands) and completed his Master's degree in Performance and Choreography at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen in 2012. Between 2009 and 2011, he worked with the Forysthe Company in Frankfurt as artistic and dramaturgical assistant and founded the New Forms of Life with Samuel Forsythe, Franziska Aigner, Daniel Jenatsch and Enad Marouf, a collaboration that deals with mapping and traversing contemporary reality, together they developed a performative multimedia installation. Since 2012 he has been working with Anne Imhof as composer and performer. Her works have been shown at MoMAPS1 (New York, 2015), Palais de Tokyo (Paris, 2015), Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2015), Liste (Basel, 2014), Kunsthalle (Basel, 2016), Hamburger Bahnhof (Berlin, 2016) and Musée d'art contemporain (Montréal, 2016), among others. He was the director of the musical conception and production as well as performer of the performance Faust (directed by Anne Imhof), which was shown at the Venice Biennale in 2017. Faust received the award Goldener Löwe for the best national participation. At the Schauspielhaus Bochum he will create the music and sound design for Florian Fischer's Geister in the 2019/20 season.
