Emir Medic, born in 1986 in Doboj (Bosnia), trained as a clothing technical assistant, studied fashion design at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and then graduated as a fashion and communication designer at the Design Department of the Academy for Fashion and Communication in Düsseldorf. Since 2014, Medic has been working as a costume designer and during his career he has collaborated with directors such as Alexander Riemenschneider, Michael Talke, Vivien Hohnholz and Alexander Giesche. He has a long-standing working relationship with Selen Kara, based primarily on the costumes he designed for productions at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, such as Blaubart – Hoffnung der Frauen, Istanbul and Träum Weiter. In 2016, he presented his own collection for the first time at the Sarajevo Fashion Week and was named Designer of the Year in Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 2017, and in April 2018 he opened the 40th Sarajevo Fashion Week with his collection GenerationZ 18. In 2019, he launched, in collaboration with freelance journalist Melissa Christov, the sustainable fashion project HUMANS FOR UP, where new collections are created from clothing donations which are made by refugee women.
