Thorsten Bihegue, born in Oberhausen in 1974, studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice at the University of Hildesheim, as well as Performance Writing at Dartington College of Arts in England. Together with playwright Abi Basch, he founded the theatre collective kInDeRdEuTsCh PrOjEkTs in 2005. They produced their plays in New York (2009) and San Francisco (2012), among other places. Guest appearances have taken them to festivals around the world.

As an author and director, he was invited to the North German Children's and Youth Theatre Festival Hart am Wind 2009, among others, with his children's play Gaks und Giks. He has participated as an actor, author and musician in numerous independent theatre productions, including with Turbo Pascal and Werkgruppe 1. From 2010 to 2012 he was a dramaturge at the Rudolstadt Theatre. In 2012, he won the sponsorship prize of the 10th Harder Literature Competition.

From 2012 to 2015 he worked regularly as a dramaturge at Schauspiel Dortmund and directed the NRW Theatertreffen 2014. Since then he has worked as a director and author at the Aachen Theatre, Oberhausen Theatre, Fürth Theatre and in the independent scene with vier.D and Komplott Legal in Dortmund. With the group Pandora Pop, he has been taking part in the Doppelpass residency programme of the German Federal Cultural Foundation since 2018.

For his play NERVT! he received the Kaas & Kappes - Autor*innenpreis 2022.
