Daniel Nerlich, born in Hamburg in 1979, studied acting at the Bern University of the Arts. His first engagements were at the Theater Basel and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. From 2009 to 2019, Nerlich was a permanent member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Hannover, where he regularly worked with directors Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Alexander Eisenach, Heike M. Goetze, Mina Salehpour and Lars-Ole Walburg. From 2019 to 2021 he was an ensemble member of the Volksbühne Berlin and worked with Alexander Eisenach, Thor Arnarsson and Lucia Bihler. Since 2021 Daniel Nerlich has been a freelance actor. He was most recently seen as King Lear in Lucerne and currently at Schauspiel Hannover (Das wirkliche Leben), Schauspiel Köln (Vor Sonnenaufgang) and from March 2023 at Schauspielhaus Bochum as a player and musician in the German-language premiere of the novel Am laufenden Band. Nerlich produces experimental electronic music under the name I Who Open Chest and regularly composes for plays.
