Mathias Max Herrmann, born in 1966 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, is an actor, filmmaker, musician, and professional autodidact. He trained as an actor with Joseph Millo, among others, and became a permanent ensemble member at the Staatstheater Hannover in 2009. Earlier in his career, he performed at theatres in Magdeburg, Berlin, Frankfurt/Oder, and Frankfurt am Main. He is a co-founder of Theater im Ballsaal Bonn and the initiator of the fictitious Gerd Schneider Gesellschaft, through which he has been developing his own artistic formats for over 25 years, including concerts, exhibitions, films, and symposia. His work spans theatre, film, and performance art and has been presented at venues such as the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt/Main, and the Staatsoper Hannover. With his theatre piece Das Wohnzimmer meines Lehrers, he performed at the International Fringe Theatre Festival in Acco, Israel. In recent years, he has been working independently as an actor and filmmaker, is a member of the PART ensemble, and has taught as a guest lecturer at the Bauhaus University in Weimar.
