Johanna Trudzinski, born in Aachen in 1979, is a costume, fashion and set designer and lives in Antwerp. She studied fashion design at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, graduating in 2006. From 2002 to 2017 she worked as a designer for the fashion label Hui-Hui; she has also worked for A.F. Vandevorst and the Japanese label Grounds. She creates costume and set designs for theatre, music theatre and opera productions at venues including Theater Artemis, Berliner Ensemble, hetpaleis, NTGent, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Theater Basel, Theater Bochum and Burgtheater Vienna. Since The Hamilton Complex at hetpaleis Antwerp she has maintained a close collaboration with Lies Pauwels; at Schauspielhaus Bochum she designed stage and costumes for Baroque, Werther (Love & Death) and Same Same – Ein Abend mit Zwillingen, among others. In 2023 she received the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST in the category “Costume” for Baroque at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
