Thilo Reuther, born 1964, studied stage design at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and graduated there as a master student. Since 1994 he has worked as a stage and costume designer, light and video designer for opera, drama and dance. He has worked together with directors such as Sebastian Baumgarten, Karin Henkel, Hasko Weber, Hermann Schmidt-Rahmer, Michael Talke and choreographer Sasha Waltz. He has taught stage design and lighting design at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, the Weißensee Academy of Arts and the Academy of Performing Arts Baden Württemberg. In 2008 and 2013 he was nominated for the German Theatre Prize of Faust for the stage designs Meister and Margarita und Macht der Darsternis. In 2013 he was invited to the 50th Theatertreffen in Berlin with the production Die heilige Johanna der Schlachthöfe directed by Sebastian Baumgarten. In 2014 he was nominated for the Russian Theatre Prize Goldene Maske with the lighting design for Le Sacre du Printemps (choreography by Sasha Waltz). During the 2019/20 season at the Schauspielhaus Bochum he will design the stage design for Karin Henkel's production Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald.
