Sophia Profanter, born in 1993, studied stage and costume design at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz from 2013 to 2018 and developed her first works as a stage and costume designer for the Theater im Palais Graz, Burggarten Graz, Werk X and Oktagon in Vienna already during her studies. She works as a stage and costume designer for theater and film. In the 2018/2019 season, she created works together with director Anna Marboe for Theater Kosmos Bregenz, Schauspielhaus and Volkstheater Wien. She also designed the set design for various photo shoots and for the short film Das Gegenteil von Ewigkeit (The Opposite of Eternity) by the Film Academy Vienna, which was awarded Best Austrian Film at the International Short Film Festival in Linz, among others. Since 2019 she is part of the artist* collective KURG HUHU, which designs interdisciplinary spatial concepts in theater and public space. Since the 2020/2021 season she is working as an assistant stage designer at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
