Franz-Xaver Mayr, born 1986 in Hallein (Austria), studied directing at the Zurich University of the Arts and graduated in 2016 with the diploma production Antigone by Sophocles. With this production, he was invited to the Körber Studio for Young Directors in Hamburg in the same year. In 2017 he was nominated for the Nestroy Prize as best young director. In the same year, he was invited to the Author's Theatre Days of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin with his world premiere production of Miroslava Svolikova's play Diese Mauer fasst sich selbst zusammen and der Stern hat gesprochen, der Stern hat auch was gesagt, where he also presented the world premiere of europa flieht nach europa by Miroslava Svolikova in 2018.
