Wera Mahne studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice in Hildesheim and at the Academy of Performing Arts Porto (ESMAE). In her work, she is increasingly concerned with the question of how spoken language and sign language can be used equally on stage and develops a specific artistic approach for this. Wera Mahne has worked at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, the FFT Düsseldorf, the Theater an der Parkaue Berlin and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. Her performance Wach? was a guest at the westwind festival in Gelsenkirchen in 2016, where it was awarded the Children's Jury Prize. In 2016 she received the Förderpreis für Darstellende Kunst of the state capital Düsseldorf. With the performance "FLIRT", which she developed at the FFT Düsseldorf in 2018, she again received an invitation to this year's westwind festival for young audiences in Oberhausen. In 2020, she developed the production Performing Family at Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim with Kübra Sekin, among others, and in 2022 she will direct Weg vom Fenster at Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum.
