Victor IJdens

Victor IJdens, born in 1994 in ’s-Hertogenbosch, studied at the Academy of Theatre and Cabaret (ATKA) in Amsterdam from 2012 to 2016. Upon graduating, he received the ITs Festival Award. He performed on Dutch stages in acclaimed productions such as Het lijden van de jonge Werther and Weg met Eddy Bellegueule, both directed by Eline Arbo. For his portrayal of Werther, he received the first Frans Lommerse Scholarship for young talents in 2019. In 2020, the four performers in Weg met Eddy Bellegueule were collectively nominated for Best Male Leading Performance by the Dutch theatre association VSCD. In 2016, Victor co-founded the young theatre collective Konvooi, which attracted attention with musical theatre productions based on literary works, including Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita. He has appeared in films and television series, including De Joodse Raad (The Jewish Council), which received the Zilveren Nipkowschijf, the Televizier-Ring Impact and two Golden Calves for Best Drama Series and Best Screenplay for a Drama Series in 2024.

Victor has been a member of the Schauspielhaus Bochum ensemble since 2021. In 2024, he received the Bochumer Theaterpreis in the Emerging Talent category. He has performed in a wide variety of productions under different directors. Kinder der Sonne (Children of the Sun) by Maxim Gorky, directed by Mateja Koležnik, in which he played Wagin, was invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2023. In Die Brüder Karamasow (The Brothers Karamazov), directed by Johan Simons, Victor played Dmitri. He also selected the music for Die Brüder Karamasow, as well as for Das Leben ein Traum (Life Is a Dream), a guest production directed by Johan Simons at Thalia Theater Hamburg.
